Immune Boosting Ingredient Highlight: Olive Leaf Extract (Oleuropein)

We’ve all heard of the more common immunity-boosting ingredients used in the most popular cold season prevention products, such as citrus fruits (vitamin C) and garlic, but one powerhouse ingredient that you may not have heard of is olive leaf extract

First isolated over 100 years ago, olive leaf extract has been used for many years for its purported health benefits. The compound has not only been shown to improve immune system function but has the added benefit of being an antioxidant with antiviral properties as well.

Olive Leaf Extract is derived from the leaves of the olive tree (Olea europaea), a potent version of all the goodness that we obtain from consuming olive oil.  The leaves contain the active compound oleuropein which is credited for its anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.

Elenolic Acid, a secondary metabolite (the component which is non-essential to the growth of the tree) is used by olive trees to naturally fight disease. There have been studies* which have shown the ingredient to shorten virus life cycles in humans.

Combined with its other active ingredients including echinacea, rose hips, elderberry, garlic, vitamin C, and turmeric, Defense contains a potent and all-natural blend of naturally pathogen fighting ingredients.
